From the 27th to the 30th of last month, 'Green City Week' was held at COEX to present the vision of eco-friendly cities. The exhibition was held in conjunction with the Climate Disaster Prevention Industry Exhibition, Building Industry Exhibition, Smart Green Building Expo, and Public Design Exhibition, and the venue was bustling with visitors gathering information from industry players and officials.

In particular, the Smart Green Building Expo, which introduced eco-friendly building facilities, building energy facilities, building automation facilities, building maintenance, and eco-friendly building materials, caught the attention of visitors. Among them, exhibits related to LEED certification attracted attention as 'green buildings' that can save building energy and resources and 'smart buildings' that consider economic efficiency through the convergence of IT and architecture. LEED certification can save 26% of energy use and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 33%. The Korea LEED Institute created a special promotion pavilion and provided various attractions related to LEED through seminars and LEED Accredited Engineer certification training sessions.

In addition, the Public Design Exhibition and the Next Generation Public and Environmental Facilities Industry Exhibition showcased facilities that comprise the design of the four rivers. The winners of the K-water Public Facility Design Competition were exhibited by Korea Water Resources Corporation, and a total of 36 works, including benches, chairs, pagodas, and bicycle racks, were selected, of which 18 were awarded.

Some of the highlights of the exhibition include parking control systems, crosswalk safety waiting devices to protect children, air conditioning and heating for elevators, bicycle and handicapped ramps, and no parking signs. The following is a summary of the exhibits related to elevators and parking facilities.

Neomus, bicycle ramp = A modular bicycle ramp that can be installed on any staircase of different widths and heights. It is made of prefabricated extruded products that are constructed on-site, minimizing risks by eliminating the need for welding and grinding. The installation time is reduced to less than one-tenth of the previous one, and maintenance is also convenient, resulting in cost savings. In particular, the curved design reduces the risk of human injury and the U-shaped rails enhance the tightness and stability of bicycle wheels.

Jeongjin System, Air Conditioner for Elevator = This air conditioner has an optimal number of revolutions to reduce operating noise and secure stable air volume, and can adjust air volume up to 6 levels. It also has a wireless remote control and LCD loader for convenient settings.  It can be checked by part and is equipped with an error code notification function in case of abnormalities.

 Various scheduling settings such as monthly, weekly, and daily operation can be made, and air conditioners and elevators are monitored in the disaster room. In addition, functions such as automatic adjustment of power consumption according to the set temperature, temperature sensor monitoring function, estimated power and current power comparison monitoring function, and two-stage power cut-off function are prepared to secure safety and protect the product.

Hanbaek System, Crosswalk Safety Waiting Device = This product (renamed: iSafe, left photo), which won the 2010 Korea Public Design Award, is installed on both sides of the crosswalk and recognizes red and green lights to protect pedestrians. In the case of a red light, the sensor detects pedestrians who have entered the driveway and warns them with a voice saying, "It is dangerous, please step back," and in the case of a green light, the voice says, "When crossing the crosswalk, look to the left and right to make sure you are safe." The company explains that it is effective in improving low-cost school zone safety facilities and preventing nighttime crosswalk accidents with a small budget.

Hanchang Eway Co., Ltd., No Parking Sign = A product that is installed on the floor of a parking lot to prevent unauthorized parking by outside vehicles.  If it is not fixed with a test device, the prohibitory rod is laid down so that the user can park without getting out of the car, making it convenient to park. The synthetic resin material does not break even if a car steps on it, and it is easy to install using anchor bolts or epoxy. It has a high-intensity reflector for nighttime visibility, and it has a test device so that only the user with the key can use it. It is useful for private parking lots such as villas and houses, VIP and executive parking lots in large buildings, and priority parking lots for residents.

NEXPA, Bi-directional License Plate Recognition System = This product (pictured right) is ticketless and non-stop, reducing traffic congestion and dramatically improving waiting time. Since it dual-recognizes the front and back license plates, if the front license plate is dirty, the back number can be recognized for accurate identification. Unmanned payment machines and force linkage allow for quick, non-stop departure, and the system also stores time, video, fare information, and utilizes various statistics to ensure transparency in management. Last year, the company built 1,200 parking spaces in the international underground parking lot of Gimpo Airport, and installed a two-way vehicle number recognition ticketing system at Hyundai Department Store and Mokdong Store, which has received high response.
