The 11th International Security Equipment and Information Protection Exhibition
CCTV-DVR market continues to grow steadily, 'market demand surges'
Inspection-Nexpa System completes development of 5-megapixel parking guidance and positioning system

2011/07

The demand for security equipment is expected to surge due to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy's policy to foster and support the domestic security industry to a global top level under the Comprehensive Plan for the Promotion of Knowledge and Information Security Industry, as well as the projects to build safe cities and CCTV integrated control centers being promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and local governments.
As a result, large-scale security projects are expected to take off in the second half of the year, and the 11th International Security Equipment and Information Protection Exhibition (hereinafter referred to as Security Exhibition 2011), which was held at COEX Hall C (formerly known as Atlantic Hall) in Samseong-dong, Seoul, from the 8th to the 10th of last month, was held as a competition venue for cutting-edge security products representing Asia as well as Korea.
The 11th annual Security Exhibition 2011 was co-organized by Infoder, K.Fairs, Korea Digital CCTV Research Association, and Korea Surveillance Equipment Industry Cooperative, and sponsored by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Ministry of Public Administration and Security, National Police Agency, and Korea Internet & Security Agency.
S-One and ADT Caps, representatives of Korea's advanced security service sector, participated as special sponsors of the exhibition, which showcased cutting-edge security products from global companies such as Panasonic, UTC F&S, and Honeywell, as well as Korea's leading security equipment companies such as C&B Tech, Union Community, SecureTech, Wonwoo ENG, Anvision, Nitzen, and Sewhwan MS. The main equipment exhibited at the exhibition covered all areas of the security industry, including video surveillance systems such as various CCTV systems, DVRs, IP surveillance systems, and video transmission equipment, biometric systems such as fingerprint recognition, face recognition, and iris recognition, access control systems using RFID and smart cards, information protection solutions, and homeland security systems.
Reflecting the recent trends of integration and convergence, intelligent functions, HD thermal cameras, megapixel high definition, and enhanced night surveillance, convergence security solutions, intelligent video analysis equipment, HD cameras, and thermal cameras were introduced. In addition, many integrated and convergent security solutions that combine each security system into one and apply it to each field were also exhibited.
In the parking system field, parking system specialists Inspection and Nexpa Systems introduced a parking guidance and parking location verification system using a new 5-megapixel camera. Here are the main products of both companies at the exhibition.

Inspekvision
INFECTIVISION is a parking control specialist with more than 20 patents, and is expanding its scope by developing integrated systems by applying LPR systems to parking guidance, parking location verification, access control, and life security.
Access Control License Plate Recognition System
The LPR system applied to parking access control is currently installed at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office. It is interlocked with an electric shutter with a speed of 2m/s to control access.
The License Plate Recognition (LPR) system, which was developed to efficiently manage vehicles entering and exiting parking lots using vehicle numbers, is a breakthrough product that solves all of the biggest problems of the existing RFID system, such as evasion of parking fees through rewriting, accurate management of entering and exiting vehicles, and securing various statistical data, while also enhancing security functions. Using a self-developed 1.45-megapixel camera and an IR-LED light with 10 million certificates, INFECVISION shows a high recognition rate of nearly 99% based on high-performance hardware configuration and our original number recognition technology. It was selected as a Good Design product by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy last year, and 18 units are currently installed at KINTEX Exhibition Center 1.
"Even a 0.1% increase in the recognition rate of the LPR system makes a significant difference," said Mr. Ko Busik of Inspection. "Our product recognizes even diplomats' vehicles. As we continue to upgrade our product, we will guarantee more than 99%." He expressed strong confidence.
License Plate Recognition System for Road Crime Prevention
The license plate recognition system for road crime prevention is a system that photographs vehicles traveling on major roads, recognizes the license plate number, and transmits the license plate number and high-resolution photos to a center installed at the police station to search for wanted and stolen vehicles in real time to prevent vehicle crime.
By taking three consecutive images of the vehicle, it is possible to see what is loaded, and these images are used to search for wanted vehicles by license plate number, time of day, and other crimes. A high-definition progressive digital camera with 1.45 million pixels is applied to acquire clear images of vehicles at speeds of 0 to 200 kilometers, and the system can be controlled remotely and automatically switched off in case of failure due to OS redundancy.
The system is currently installed and deployed in Dongtan U-city with about 20 units. Originally developed to prevent theft, the system provided a crucial clue to the Kang Hoseon serial murder case in February 2009, and since then, 342 units have been installed in Gyeonggi Province, of which 50 percent are Inspekvision products, according to the company.
The system has also been installed in a school zone in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island, where it captures vehicles passing in front of the school and is monitored by the police department. When a fixed camera illuminates the school gate and there is movement, the speed dome camera tracks it and recognizes the license plate numbers of people and cars. Recently, it has been working in conjunction with intelligent solutions.
Parking guidance and parking location verification system
INFECVision has developed a parking guidance and parking location system that manages three parking lots with one camera.  It has a function that recognizes and broadcasts video for areas where street parking is not allowed. The 5-megapixel camera, which supports dual codecs, captures the license plate number and saves the video in 640*480 resolution. Up to 32 channels (96 parking spaces) can be stored, and the self-developed PoE built-in network camera can transmit and receive power and video data through an Ethernet cable, reducing construction costs through simple construction. The induction display board was also developed in-house.
"By photographing and recognizing three parking lots with one camera, we can achieve the effect of economical initial equipment cost, simplified installation, and increased management efficiency," said Ko Busik. "We are currently building it at KINTEX 2 Exhibition Center."

Nexpa Systems
(Based on its unrivaled image recognition technology (20 patents), Nexpa Systems introduced Korea's first image-based parking guidance and positioning system and has installed more than 6,000 parking lots, including Incheon International Airport and Gimpo Airport International Parking Lot.
Bi-directional Vehicle Number Recognition System
The two-way license plate recognition system, which was launched last year, has recently been newly launched as an integrated system with an electronic board.
This system is a groundbreaking system that recognizes the vehicle's number through pattern matching by taking 7 photos of the front license plate (0.5 seconds) and 14 photos of the back license plate (0.5 seconds) in one second when the vehicle enters the parking lot, and realizes a ticketless system with a recognition rate of over 99%. Since parking tickets are not issued separately, it not only dramatically reduced the cost of consumables but also shortened the time to calculate the fare.
Currently, the ticketless parking system is installed in Hyundai Department Store trading stores and has a recognition rate of 99.9% (3 to 4 unrecognized vehicles out of 3 to 4 thousand vehicles entering and leaving the store per day).
Illegal Parking Enforcement System
It is a high-tech unmanned enforcement system to prevent various risks by suppressing the occurrence of illegally parked vehicles by performing enforcement activities such as automatic detection, filming, and number recognition when a vehicle is parked or stopped in the illegal parking prohibition zone.
"It is an unmanned system that recognizes when a vehicle stops on the street, and the camera zooms in and cracks down on it. Nexpa Systems preempted the market by supplying Seoul, Goyang City, Seongnam City, etc. four to five years ago, and the company has grown a lot." "The response from local governments that have built the system is also good, as it is used for crime prevention by cracking down on illegal parking during the day and chasing moving objects at night."
Parking guidance and location systems
The parking guidance and positioning system is a breakthrough system that automatically guides the flow of cars and parking areas from entering to exiting, prevents accidents in parking lots, and protects the safety of users, and is a solution that applies the most advanced system to satisfy users, managers, and installers.
The existing Nexpa system required four cameras to check the presence and location of parking on three sides of the parking lot. It could not be installed in many sites because it required expensive cameras for each parking lot.
Recently, through continuous technology development, we have developed a system that can recognize license plate numbers and store videos for up to three sides with one 5-megapixel multi-camera. It stores images at 5 million pixels and videos at 410,000 pixels and manages them in MVR.
This camera is an all-in-one camera that can realize various functions such as real-time parking status and vacancy guidance, parking security monitoring, and checking the location of your car through a kiosk, heralding a breakthrough improvement in the parking guidance system.
By recognizing multiple parking surfaces with a single camera, the price of the existing system, which was twice the price of the ultrasonic system, has been drastically reduced. It will be deployed at the Ulsan branch of Hyundai Department Store and the Daegu branch of Hyundai Department Store, which will open next month.
