'Go overseas market!'
180m/min speed elevator, high performance bi-direction safety gear


“Now, all big and small-medium companies have hard time so most important matter is survival. Especially, one of the method of survival is export through with technologies and quality management”. This is foreword of Kim ho il, president of Modern Elevator Co., Ltd.
It is not a temporary problem that low cost products are prevail in Korea not depending on price of raw material. Accordingly, big companies try to expand export through overseas product lines. On the contrary, small-medium companies even don't have a solution like that are surrounded by enemies on all sides.
Among these, Modern Elevator Co., Ltd.(president Kim ho il, hereunder refer to as Modern) located in Daegu is outstanding in not only domestic but also overseas market because of continuous R&D and quality management.
They started export from 2006 and now export to 10 more countries such as South east asia, Middle asia, Europe on special type elevator. Accordingly, they were awarded 1 million USD export last year and reached 3 millions USD by April. They expect 5 millions USD by next year.
They achieved this result because of technologies and quality management. Especially, they developed 180m/min speed elevator that is regarded as limit for small-medium company.
Now, the elevator is export to India, and they also developed MRL car-lift for 40 floors with 90m/min speed. Mr. Kim said “We developed 180m/min speed elevator, but we didn't received order from domestic market because of the bias of small company make product. So, we gain brand name from overseas market then we apply the elevator to domestic market”. Also said “After all, high speed elevator development is must-be item for all small-medium companies. Technology upgrading of small-medium company will be linked to vitalizations of domestic market”.

"E/L 240m/min speed…develop within 3 years"
In this year, that elevator occupied 40~50% market share but paid attention to 200% of their own. Especially, they product all component except machine and rail so they have price competitive power. Also, they will finish the development of bi-direction safety gear through industry·scholar·institute system. This safety gear plan to apply to more than 15 persons elevator.
Mr. Kim said “The elevator industry of leading countries are supported by government but we are so vulnerable and small support now. Especially, low technology of small companies is not today's problem” and added “As a result, 90% of domestic market share is occupied by world-wide companies”. And said “Small-medium company shall develop 240m/min speed elevator to compete with them. We will show the possibility within 3 years”. Also, they prepare home elevator market and export to 2 more countries.
