'Rendezvous of highest and largest'…Stand as 'Landmark'

Weight of traction machine is 17.5 tons, for capacity of 37 persons. Largest in Korea

Recently, Asia is under boom of construction skyscraper buildings. Burj Dubai in UAE(United Arab Emirates), Pudong area in Shanghai, Roppongihills and Tokyo Midtown in Japan making new image as skyscraper building area, and attract tourists.

Korea construction market is not an exception. At the beginning of this year, government actually granted the construction of 2nd Lotte World and this was trigger for other high building projects. Especially, this is big chance for elevator companies and they are under order achieving war. Now the proposed projects of skyscrapers higher than 100 floors are 9 cases by 2015.

If elevator companies achieve just one order, they canmake a huge profit on it.
Among these companies, Otis elevator(CEO Brad Buckwalter, hereunder refer to as Otis) is outstanding on achieving order. Now the result of achievement of Otis is 6 construction sites out of 10 skyscraper building construction nearby Seoul.

One of these achievements is Northeast Asia Trade Tower(NEATT for short) located in Songdo. Otis explained that NEATT had a great role to advertise Otis name in Korea.
NEATT is first commercial building located in Songdo international business complex. This building have a symbolic mean of having both business and residental area. This building will be constructed as 305m height, 68 floors, and be a highest building in Korea.
Songdo international city will be composed on 53,250,000㎡ area and completed by 2020. Songdo international business complex is core facility built on 5,720,000㎡ area with 30 billions USD investment. This project is biggest in Korea and will be finished by 2014 under civil consortium driving.
All building in the complex are built with environmental friend material and targeted to achieve LEED silver grade by Green Build Council(GBC) of U.S. Last October, world 5th longest bridge, Incheon bridge(Songdo ~ Yeongjongdo, 21.27km) was opened so that the traffic between Incheon international airport and Songdo be improved much more than before.

Otis, occupied 50% of Korea skyscraper builds market

On this, Otis installing Korea largest gearless elevator(37person capacity). It marked 65% progress from October last year. Totally 31 units of escalators and elevators(including 2 Gen2 elevator, 23 gearless elevator, 6 escalator) are installed.
Especially, the car weight of largest elevator is 4.5 tons and that of traction machine is 17.5 tons. Now, 1 unit is installed and the speed is 5m/s. Except this, 25 persons capacity elevator(5m/s) and 29 persons capacity elevator (7m/s) will be installed. Maintenance service will be controlled in headquarter through web, and residental steps will cope with every problems A.S.A.P.
Kim JongDu, site general manager of Otis of NEATT, sad “We had many meeting on locating traction machine which weigh 17.5 tons by tower crane”and added “I'm working in elevator installation site for 22 years and very proud of installing biggest elevator in Korea.”.
On the other hands, Otis got 60% order of the complex such as First world Towers, Central Park II 101~103 buildings, GS Harbor view, Purgio apartment house, Club house in Jack Nicklaus Golf Club. Also, they achieved the order from Seoul International Finance Center(SIFC) recently. That is 30 billions KRW amount and largest project in Korea.
