Hyundai Elevator receives two international OHSAS 18001-GMS certifications simultaneously
Hyundai Elevator Co. Acquired two OHSAS 18001-GMS international certifications simultaneously Synergistic effect between certifications... Leap to the global top 5 2012/02 Hyundai Elevator (CEO Han Sang-ho, www.hyundaielevator.co.kr) has simultaneously obtained the international health and safety management system 'OHSAS 18001' and the integrated international environmental standard 'GMS' certification from DNV Certification Institute, a global certification organization. The certificates were presented by Ambassador Tolbjorn Holte of the Norwegian Embassy at a ceremony held at Hyundai Elevator's Seoul office on March 13th. OHSAS (Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series) 18001 is an international certification for an enterprise-wide management system that prevents, systematically manages, and continuously improves risks such as occupational accidents, and has been used as an international safety and health certification since 1999, when it was jointly developed by certification bodies from 13 European countries including Norway and the United Kingdom. Hyundai Elevator received the certification after more than eight months of preparation by forming a dedicated internal TFT team from May last year as part of the company-wide accident-free movement, and is expected to improve productivity and strengthen safety competitiveness. GMS (Green Management System) certification is an integrated certification system that encompasses environment-related ISO standards such as environmental management (ISO 14001), greenhouse gas (ISO 14064), energy/resources (ISO 50001), and social responsibility (ISO 26000), and is an integrated certification of international environmental standards that is granted to companies that fulfill their social and ethical responsibilities by minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution. Through GMS certification, Hyundai Elevator has established a sustainable management system that can improve environmental performance such as energy saving, air, water, and waste, and respond to environmental regulations, paving the way for 'low-carbon green growth'. Han Sang-ho, CEO of Hyundai Elevator, said, "We will create a synergistic effect between the two international certifications for safety and environment to strengthen our external competitiveness and use it as a great driving force to become a global TOP 5 company based on efficient system operation." |
