20 years' teamwork, the creation of 30 years running of E/S
18 units of escalators will be replaced by coming October
Matter of maintaining the teamwork…plan to hire new persons to cover the absent

Kimpo airport was opened in 1942 and it had been an international airport until March 2001. Kimpo airport was gate of Korea from 71 cities from 28 conutries such as U.S.·Japan·France.
As a matter of course, the role of Kimpo airport was much reduced as the open of Incheon international airport in March 2001 but there still 25,000 to 40,000 people per day utilize the airport now. Among these, 30 years old escalators are one of simbol of the old airport.
The volume of lift facilities located in Kimpo airport is 26 units of elevator and 45 units of escalator. Especially, 18 untis that planed to be replaced by coming October is more than 30 years old and the maintenance skill of the escalator is now under spotlight.
Park jae ju, a head of the Kimpo office of Wonbong company, said “The old escalators have no problem for further operation but we decide to replace it to new model to secure more safety of passengers”. The company announced that the remodeling of the little more secure elevator installation is designed to secure the safety of customers.
Wonbong company is the maintenance company for lifts and they take the maintenance of Incheon airport, Jeju airport, Kimhae airport and so on. Kimpo International Airport here, a total of eight people work in and two persons make a team then take 3 shifts operating around 24 hours and one day four times, two times a year they carry out a precision maintenance and frequent inspection as a preventive maintenance. With the HMI monitoring panel, these persons have been working more than 20 years and make the result.

Securing elevator parts quarterly, solving part supply problem
In addition, by monitoring 24 hours they can dispatch persons to resolve immediately, checking 4 times a day but is regulation but they do more than described in manual.
Mr. Park said “Until now, elevator maintenance is carried out smoothly with the cooperation of Korea Airports Corporation” and added “Afterall, we continue the cooperation to make 100 years lift maintenance”.
Looking into the lift maintenance system of Kimpo airport, the corporation take a management of large project such as replacement and company take a part replacement in site.
Also, the corporation purchase lift parts quarterly so that replace the old parts immediately. This is contrast to these companies leave the lift unoperational because of short supply of spare parts.
