Forming new association for elevator safety
Distributing to maintenance businesss and elevator quality


From 1970, the rising of industry towed era of city and it needed vertical transportation because of the height of buildings. Especially now, vertical transportations are mandatory one. But, the number of elevators have been increased, the accidents also did.
On this, government announced the revision of 'the laws on the safety of elevator facility management' and picked the securing safety as first task. Domestic manufacturers focus on R&D and maintenance. Member companies of maintenance business also try best for securing the safety of passengers using vertical transportation.
But, most 800 maintenance companies are small and they import low cost components from China and south east asia. Also they compete with price so that it connected to accidents.
Last month 20th, in Transportation hall in Songpa, Seoul, Hyundai elevator, Otis elevator and ThyssenKrupp elevator gathered and founded Korea Elevator Maintenance Association(temporary name)(president Seo gil soo, hereunder refer to as association) and held general foundation meeting.
190 elevator maintenance companies having manufacturing knowhow participated in the meeting to cooperate and improve the service of maintenance.
Mr.Seo gil soo, CEO of Hyundai elevator, was elected as new president and he emphasized that this foundation would be another fusion for safety. He also said that excessive price competition made uncontrolled market and this was a reverse movement toward past. And he added that the association would do a role of reader on the development of elevator business.
Afterward, the association plan to be accredited by government and carry out formal activity, and they improve and diagnose elevator based on the technologies of member companies to secure passengers' safety.
